This is for real

Ok, small unit didn't expect much, but boy was I wrong. I have used it for thin-thick steels, found it to be equal to the task of welding what i needed. I had it over heat once in a full year of running and that was my fault... Don't be fooled guys, this bad boy can weld. Light weight and portable.

Great stick machine

Great stick machine. I have tried it where I work I was amazed. Tried it with 110v 7018 . Recommended.

Unbelievably happy with this purchase

I will begin with a disclaimer, I am not a welder, I have never welded in my life prior to two days ago. Someone decided to steal our catalytic converter while we were away on vacation and the quotes to have it replaced were almost as much as the car cost...I bought all the bits I needed and tried with JB weld to fix it myself. Suffice to say this did not work, so plan B was to weld it myself. I found this on Amazon and the reviews sold it. I did find there was some missing information and I had my doubts when I set up to start.

First thing I was worried about was could I run a conventional extension cord or did I need to buy a $100 one. Turns out, a 25ft 15amp cable worked just fine, nothing got hot running on a standard 110v outlet.

Second thing was the actual number of amps needed for the E6011 rods I'd bought, the rods say between 35 and 75 amps, when I tried at what this welder was saying was 35, they stuck and refused to flow, I eventually (and very tentatively) increased the amps until I found the rods would flow, it ended up saying about 82amps so the read out (while on 110v anyway) either isn't accurate or the rods I have were out of spec.

All this to say, once I got the rods flowing I was able to replace the catalytic converter and the welds are holding nicely. Having never even touched a welder prior to two days ago I'm confident in recommending this to people who haven't tried it yet and want to give it a go.

Worth the mone

If you are looking for very portable welder to carry around the ranch, this is perfect. I ran it on 220 off my generator building a large turn out area for my horses. Is it a Miller 250, no but try lugging a big shop welder out to the field to do some light welding. I ran some 1/16 and 1/8 and got good penetration and controls seemed pretty right on. Overall, happy I spent the Benjamins on this, so far it seems pretty reliable.
